Q: What is a the differences between Normal, Mast, and Wireless only installs?

A: (NORMAL) A normal install involves mounting a 5.8Ghz CPE antenna using a 18” J-mount to the customer’s house or outbuilding of close proximity to the location housing the computer(s) requiring high speed access.  Cat5e cable is run from the antenna to the interior room of customer’s choice.  Proper grounding of the antenna and interior power injector is provided.  Installation is completed using customer or TNS provided (additional $10 charge) surge protector for lightning protection.  Connection and configuration of customer provided router is included if necessary.  Normal install fee is currently $85.

(MAST) A Mast install is needed when line-of-site to the access point water tower is not obtainable from the house or from close proximity to the customer’s house or business location.  In this case, a mast is needed. This takes considerately more time to setup and install. Therefore, the install fee is currently $150 for this type of installation.

(Wireles Only) In certain locations, we can provide a 2.4GHZ proximity coverage. For this type of installation, an inside wireless device is all that is needed to connect. It is easier to setup with an installation fee of $50.

Additionally, running an extended length of buried conduit may be required to achieve the line-of-sight requirement for NORMAL or MAST installs.  A written estimate of needed conduit supplies (at cost) and added labor is passed to the customer in this case and is added to the installation charge.
